Rope Attachment Inspection & Re-Certification Service

RBD rope attachments are manufactured to ISO 9001 standard and they are normally proof load tested to at least 2.5 times the required safe working load followed by Non-Destructive Testing. The high standard of manufacture & testing means that with regular inspection and maintenance RBD attachments can have an operational life of ten years of more. To assist customers with the regular maintenance of attachments and to help them avoid any potential problems with the wear, corrison & fatigue of equipment RBD offers its customers a Rope Attachment Inspection & Re-Certification Service.

The Importance of Regular Inspection

Rope attachments are subject to varying degrees of corrosion and wear depending on shaft conditions and workload so regular inspection of attachments is essential and a regulatory requirement in most countries. It is iimportant to recognise that if problems go unnoticed, and repair and maintenance measures are not taken an attachment can fail. To help maintain the highest possible level of equipment safety RBD recommends that the owner operator makes a thorough visual iinspection of their attachments on a regular basis.

RBD's Inspection Capabilities

RBD has built-up considerable experience analysing the performance of rope attachments in various working conditions and identifying potential probelms with mechanical wear, corrosion and fatigue in attachments. The company maintains an archive so it should be possible to trace an attachment's history to the original manufacturing specification from the serial number stampings or from the original Certificate of Manufacture.

Inspection & Technical Consultation

Customers participating in the Inspection & Re-Certification programme recieve a report giving details of the findings of the RBD examination and if necessary any recomendations for repair & maintenance. RBD iinspectors are certified to at least CGSB Level II and follow procedures developed by RBD for each type of attachment. If you would like further information about of the Inspection & Re-Certification Service, either in Canada or elsewhere in the world please contact us. More...
