Lifting & Manoeuvring Attachments
Wedge type rope glands are used for the lifting and manoeuvring of wire ropes of every description and for their anchoring, suspension or tensioning. Embodying the wedge principal, no white metalling is necessary. They are readily assembled, their split construction enabling the to be fitted on the rope at any given point.
The two-bolt clamps which are fitted to the rope above the interlocking wedges act as a safety block and will come into operation to assist the wedge action if and when necessary.
The types of glands available for differing duties are described below. Each type of gland is of the same basic construction and adaptable for a number of uses:

This gland is used for the lifting and manoeuvring of all types of wire ropes during installation and maintenance, for guide rope tensioning, and many other purposes..

A feature of this gland, which is primarily designed for rope lifting and manoeuvring, is that the case may be unbolted (and the rope released) while the entire attachment is still held by rings or chains coupled to its shackles. A gland of this design, but incorporating a flat base, similar to that on the “NU” gland is also available.
